CW520 for EM Injection

Hey Guys,

Thanks to Colin and NewAE for making such a great product.
My experience with the ChipWhisperer Lite has been great so far.

Now I want to discover EM Injection.

So now I have procured a ChipSHOUTER development kit.
I wanted to know what precautions I need to take before operating the ChipHSOUTER.

Can someone help me with the same?

I had people advising me that I should setup a Faraday cage to prepare for the worst case scenario. So is this necessary or advisable?

Also with respect to the Hardware setup, can someone recommend X-Y tables and Octopus Arms and any such instruments which can prove to be useful in the long run.

Moreover, I have a ChipWhisperer Nano. Can I trigger the EM pulses on the ChipSHOUTER via the ChipWhisperer Nano using the cw scope API or will I need a ChipWhisperer Lite or Pro for the same?

You can review the safety chapter of the ChipShouter user guide.

Triggering from a nano is possible; one way is to connect the Nano’s TIO4 to the CW506; another is to break the Nano’s target section and solder an SMA connector on its crowbar port. Again the user guide has guidance here.

Interfacing with a CW-Pro or Husky would be easiest since they have trigger output SMA / SMX connectors.
