I am looking to attack an 8051 device, the logic level of which is 5v. As we know, CW Lite works on 3.3V. Does the same apply for all its GPIO pins, like TIO2 for serial RX? Would I damage the CW by feeding 5V and would I be better off using a logic level shifter?
Yes, you need to use a level shifter, such as ours.
All those pins are connected to the FPGA, which doesn’t support 5V.
